Don’t get me wrong, I work my butt off, but I know that I need to allocate time to friends family and most importantly Elise. It is a difficult juggling act but I am continuing to learn how to do it. I think finally I am content with how things are going and now I just have to figure out how to make a living out of my passion. Glad you enjoyed the article

WOW! I missed that one. This dive was one of the most extreme things I have done. It really was a memorable experience and I would definitely do it again. Will have to check out the Pit when we go back.

I couldn’t agree with you more. In all our travels we have witnessed families help each other through everything. In the west we have a philosohy of “keeping up with the Jones” and we are all in it for ourselves. I only wish that we could see more families bonding together to make a difference in everyones lives. I am glad that this article struck a cord with you and I am still trying to balance everything in my life as well as trying to make a living out of my passion.

Hey Anthony. Great write-up. There’s another deep cenote around there though that I dove called The Pit. It goes to ~38m (125ft.) It’s more the crystal clear cavern variety, though it does have two haloclines on the way down.

I’m so with you here, Ant. Balance is so hard to find — for me it is juggling work, exercise, hobbies I’m trying to turn into work, keeping my house clean, calling my parents, and spending time with my husband. Even just writing that makes me exhausted, let alone if you try to throw friends into the mix. I agree that travel helps you find a bit more of that balance. For me, I think it’s because I get to travel the world and see that the majority of the world does not revolve around an 8 – 5 schedule, the majority of the world does not show up on time, and also, another thing I notice is that you generally have extended families living together and supporting each other both inside the home and by earning income. This sense of interdependence gets lost in the west, particularly here in the US where it’s all about independence, achievement, acquisition, and success. Great post!

This is so true. I’m glad you two are finding balance at home and not falling into old habits that didn’t make you happy. Speaking of workaholics, my dad is the same way and so was I until recently. Now I’m only a workaholic if it comes to something I love and even then, I want to make sure I take time for friends, family and other hobbies I love.
