Eating Thai Food eBook Review

For those who are regular readers you will know that I have a fascination with Thailand and everything Thai. I regard Thailand as my second home and Elise and I could quite easily see ourselves living there one day and not for the reason that it is relatively cheap, but it is the people, culture and more than anything it is the Thai food!

We have visited Thailand over 11 times and the food never gets old, we love the fresh tropical flavours paired with the spices and salts. Having been a chef, Thai food combines all the flavours of sweet, salty, bitter into most of the dishes and if you talk to any Thai chef, they will tell you that cooking is all about balance or Ying and Yang. That is why I love Thai food, there is always a perfect mix of flavours in every mouthful.

Eating Thai Food guide

Tom Saap Plah Duk

I remember my first trip to Thailand and being mesmerised with the amount of different dishes on offer. The problem back then was that all the menus were in Thai and it was very hard to order something off the menu unless you could read Thai or at least speak a little Thai.  Although, much has changed over the past 10 years, it is still difficult to explore your palate and taste new things in Thailand. This is where Mark’s eBook Eating Thai Food Guide comes in and helps you seek out dishes you would usually pass over and not even know existed.

Where to Eat

Eating Thai Food GuideIn the ebook Mark covers where you can eat and gives you a list of places that he recommends and that serves particular delicacies you might like to try. He takes all the hard work out of finding a good establishment and has names and addresses in Bangkok for you to try.

How to Order

Most people don’t order anything different in Thailand, because they are too frightened to actually order the food and are worried they will end up with something unusal. Mark has given explainations of all the Thai dishes and has also written the dishes in Thai and English which enables you to just show the language in the ebook when ordering.

What will it look like

People are also afraid of ordering Thai food because they may not like the look of the presentation of the dish, but Mark has taken all the guess work out of ordering and paired each dish with a glossy photo to show you exactly you are in for if you order it. This takes away all the frustrations of getting something at your table and it is not what you expected.

How much will it cost

Being a tourist in a foreign country means you are bound to get ripped off at one stage or another. Since you are going to be eating everyday you will want to make sure that you are getting charged accordingly and each of the items listed in the ebook come with an estimated cost. Of course prices change, but it is handy to know ball park figures of what you intend on spending for a night out.

Use your knowledge

Although Eating Thai Food Guide is aimed at eating Thai food when living or visiting Thailand, you can use your new found knowledge when ordering Thai food anywhere in the world and you will have a better understanding of all the dishes on the menu and where they originated from.

What I like about this eBook

I really enjoyed reading this eBook and although I have tried many of the dishes that are within, there are even a number of dishes I haven’t heard of and Mark has broadened my understanding of Thai food. The ebook is well set out and I love the simplicity of the explanations of the dishes which make a easy ebook to understand.

I would highly recommend buying this ebook is you would like to gain further understanding of Thai food and so you can dive in head first and try new Thai dishes and know exactly what it is your eating.

  1. What an awesome guide! Thai food is so crazy good.

  2. Great review on the eBook. We might just need to buy this before our trip to Thailand this fall!

Tony and I are big foodies and we heard from many backpackers that food in Thailand is some of the best in the world… A bold statement but after reading your article, I can see why people love it so much. It really is amazing when chefs combine sweet, salty, and bitter… Gotta love the ying and yang!

I love Thai food back in the states, but I imagine having it in Thailand is much more varietal, fresh, and just all around MUCH better.

Cannot wait and thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Eating Thai Food Guide!
