The moment I hear travel insurance I get shivers down my spine, as I dread every time I need to look into the cover that I need for my intended trip. Nobody likes to look over the fine print and make sure that all their belongings have been covered and more importantly that your medical expenses, heaven forbid would be covered in the event of an accident.
We have been traveling on and off for the past 10 years and Elise and I have used a variety of different companies, some of which are based in Australia as well as others which have been recommended to us by other travelers.

At the beginning of our last trip OS
When approached by InsureandGo to review their product I jumped at the chance as I will be travelling to Malaysia on a short trip and I needed to be covered for the week I would be overseas. I set out to put InsureandGo through its paces and see if this is a company that I could trust and recommend to other travellers. I have mixed feelings about insurance companies and I am sure that many of you have the same feelings on premiums and having to claim for lost items or medical expenses. We all hope that when there is a problem, your given insurance company will be there to help out.
Travel Insurance Online
I hate making that phone call to the sales team of any insurance company so I decided to hope online and check out what InsureandGo offered and how transparent there polices were. I first browsed through their home page and found exactly what I was looking for. There is a handy quick quote entry field where you can enter your trip details and within seconds you have three different levels of cover available.

InsureandGo Home Page
Depending on your budget and level of insurance, you can choose either Bare essentials, Silver or Gold coverage along with additional add ons if needed for certain activities such as winter sports or business coverage. I found this extremely easy to navigate and compare the three packages.

InsureandGo – Compare packages
I ended up choosing the Gold cover as I will be travelling with my camera and computer equipment and wanted to be sure that my belongings would be covered in the event of something happening. I also chose to include the “Excess Eliminator” which means that in the event that I do need to make a claim the excess is waived.
Most of the time I don’t even know what it is I am covered for and it is always too much effort to read all the fine print. But I found that this page made it very easy to understand the cover and if I didn’t know what any item meant, I simply rolled over that item and detailed explanation popped up to tell me everything I needed to know. Brilliant! I then selected the cover that I wanted and just had to fill in my details and I was only one step away from purchasing my cover. But wait!
What if you have pre-existing conditions? Not a problem, you can enter any medical condition and after answering a few brief questions your cover will be adjusted accordingly to ensure you have nothing to worry about when on your holiday.

Another great feature was as soon as the cover is purchased, a message to your phone is sent for free with your policy number along with an email. This ensures that you no matter what happens, you will have access to your policy number the event of anything occurring.
Over the Phone
I wanted to be sure to give you a thorough review of this product so even though I had purchased my cover online, I decided to make a phone call to the InsureandGo Sales team to put them through their paces. I was greeted by a nice man called Sri who quickly and efficiently asked a number of questions to get a quote for my intended holiday to Malaysia. Before I knew it he had presented me with three options (which I had already seen online) and then he indicated all the add ons that could be purchased depending on my level of coverage.
I posed some questions about my camera equipment and if there were limitations on each individual item which he answered proficiently. I was impressed with his knowledge of the insurance and also answering all my questions. “Trust” is the a major player when I make a decision for travel insurance and Sri had ensured me that all my belongings were covered and also medical expenses as listed on the website were covered. I was a little dumb-founded when he requested if I have any other queries or any other hesitations. Was I talking with an insurance company? Don’t they just want to take my money? Sri was highly professional and told me everything I needed to know about the travel insurance product I was purchasing.
Sri indicated that I must also read the details of my policy and be sure that I understand all the terms and conditions and welcomed me to call back if I was unsure of anything.
Sri had no understanding that I would be writing a review of my experience purchasing InsureandGo’s travel Insurance, but treated me like an individual and not a number. Thank you Sri for your kind customer service.
Conclusion
The general setting up and research of my travel insurance was extremely easy via InsureandGo’s website. I always want purchasing travel insurance to be as hassle-free as possible. I think that InsureandGo have achieved this, as well as having a knowledgeable sales team on the phone to answer any other concerns I had.
The true test of this company is if I ever have to make a claim, whether or not the process is as hassle-free and streamlined as the set up of the travel insurance. Lets hope that I never have to make a claim, but if I do, I will be sure to let you know how it goes.

Hi guys, I am a regular follower of your blog, but now I was wondering if you could help me with something?
I am from the UK, currently 11 months into a world trip, I took out an insurance policy for 12 months when I left, so that will expire in a few weeks. But I am not due home until the end of April now after extending my trip
I have contacted my current provider and they do not extend policies, and any new policy will only be valid if I organised it while in my home country.
I seem to be struggling to find any insurance that works for my situation. If you have come across anything during your travels I would love to hear about it.
Thanks
Helen
