It is not often that a hotel “gets” international travellers and caters for your needs, Traders Hotel in KL really understands me as a traveller and have created a hotel which exceeded my expectations.
Having travelled the world and also worked with some of the most prestigious hotels in Asia I was keen to see how Traders Hotel would shape up in comparison to other 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in.
After a long flight you want to arrive at your hotel, have a quick check-in and get straight to you room for a shower and sleep. The check-in process at Traders Hotel was extremely smooth and before I knew it I was entering my room for the first time.
The View
My initial reaction was WOW! This was a beautiful room with a large king bed and ceiling to floor windows with a view to die for. Traders Hotel is directly opposite the Petronas Twin Towers and can boast that it is the only hotel in KL to get uninterrupted views of both towers.
I had arrived in the evening and the city was entirely lit up and I stood gazing off into the distance at all the sparkling lights. The two towers shot up right in front of me and it felt like I could reach out and almost touch them! It is worth staying at Traders Hotel for the view alone, but there are so many other features I fell in love with.

My welcome cupcakes in my Traders Hotel room
In my room sat three perfectly placed mini muffins with the most elaborately frosted tops, along with a row of decadent chocolates. Let’s just say I indulged myself as soon as I entered the room! I sat in front of the wonderous view and ate not one, but all three muffins in one sitting. I had officially arrived in KL in style!

Free Wifi
This is a definite must for any traveller and with the increase of mobile devices able to connect to the internet, I can’t understand why some hotels don’t offer free wifi. Other hotels charge enormous daily amounts for and it was nice to see Traders Hotel offer free wifi for all guests in all areas of the hotel. The wifi was fast and reliable and I had no troubles on any level of the hotel. I only wish other hotels would follow suit and provide free wifi. Well done Traders!
Need to Workout?
This hotel has you covered, there is a work-out room with stunning views of the city skyline and also of the twin towers. It is the perfect way to start the day and all treadmills and machines have an uninterrupted floor to ceiling views of the city. If running isn’t your thing, they also have a purpose-built yoga room. Although I didn’t have time to use this room, I could definitely see myself stretching here when the sun comes up.

Also there is a 1.4 km running track located in the garden areas just outside the hotel. It is best to get up early and run this track before the heat is unbearable. I spent one morning running this track and loved it! A great way to start the day in KL.

SkyBar
By far the most unique bar in all of Kula Lumpur, the sky bar is located on the top level of Traders Hotel. The bar has a swimming pool which can also be used for swimming laps and relaxing. It has a glass ceiling and again amazing views of the Petronas Twin Towers. The bar is open to the public and is a definitely must-do if you are visiting Kula Lumpur. We spent a night drinking mouth-watering cocktails and I can recommend that the Mojito and Long Island Ice Tea and my picks from the cocktail menu!

This is a popular night spot in KL and be sure to arrive early if you would like to grab a booth with your own personal views of the city. Each night in the SkyBar there is a theme which will determine which music will be playing. You can find out all the most up-to-date information on twitter.

Staff
In every hotel I have stayed in, it is usually the staff that make or break my stay. The staff at Traders exceeded my expectations and a few staff members somehow knew my name and greeted me in the halls as Mr Milotic. The small things count and all the staff were extremely attentive and I was always greeted with a smile. My room was cleaned and I always love coming back to my room when I receive a turn down service. I couldn’t give more praise to the friendly happy staff at Traders Hotel. They are doing something right, because it shows through each and every staff member.
Around Traders Hotel
Traders Hotel is in the perfect location and is central to most of the tourist areas. It is only a short stroll from the Petronas Towers and there is also a huge shopping mall located underneath the towers called Suria KLCC, where you can find major designer labels and electronic equipment. I spent an hour wandering around this mall and I soon became lost, due to the enormity of the place and number of different levels. Well worth a look.

The Suria KLCC Mall close by
Central market, the Chinese markets and the Menara Tower are all just a short cab ride away and that is why Traders is in the perfect location for the business or leisure traveller.
Recommendation
I would highly recommend staying at Traders Hotel if you are visiting KL. The rooms are spacious and the beds are like sleeping on clouds. The view along is worth the stay and if you can’t afford to stay at Traders I would recommend visiting SkyBar for an evening drink. You definitely won’t be disappointed.
