Planet Waves B&B Review

Planet Waves Nica Surf B&B is located in the cruisy surf town of San Juan Del Sur in Nicaragua. San Juan is most certainly a place where travellers head to laze around on the beach, drink beer and cocktails and of course to surf.

Because it is a popular tourist destination in Central America, small hostels, guesthouses and B&B’s have popped up all over the place, with many families offering rooms in their house for the weary traveller.

Planet Waves  is a fairly new structure built from scratch on a plot of land about 10 minutes walk from the main town. It’s quiet  and relaxing. Even though it is not in the main town area, it is just an easy stroll over the bridge and you are there.

The B&B is only small, but with only 3 rooms it can afford to be. The main lounge area has hammocks and the kitchen where you can lounge all day if you like, cook your own food and listen to music.

The owner Peppe also lives in this small B&B and acts as a good host while you are there. He will show you around town, advise of some great hangout and restaurants as well as accompany you to some great swell for a surf. He is relaxed and easy to get along with and makes your stay comfortable.

Great Kitchen Facilities

The 3 rooms at Planet Waves consist of two priavte rooms and one dorm room that can sleep up to 4 people. All rooms are immacuatly clean, have A/C and a private bathroom with warm water. The rooms are great value for the price.

Free WiFi is also included and works pretty well. There is also a laundry room and use of pushbikes is free. Breakfast is an additional charge.

Security is also on 24 hours along with the help from Peppe’s dog Napoli. I don’t know how the dog does it, but he knows immediately if you are a guest and is super friendly, yet he can also suss out straight away if someone isn’t a guest at the B&B. He is one smart guard dog!

The Guard Dog!

The only downside to the B&B is probably Napoli himself. If you are not a dog lover then this probably isn’t the place for you, as Napoli will love to get pats off you and want to be your best friend!

Staying at Planet Waves Nica B&B was a decent option for our time in San Juan Del Sur. We thought our rooms were comfortable and clean, facilities worked well and it wasn’t too far out of town.

  1. I’ve only done a B&B a couple times in our travels, but they’ve never really been my cup of tea. Maybe I should revisit the option:)

This was a really good option and Peppe was more than happy to tell us about all the best places for food and activities. We even got a discount on the surf tour because we new Peppe. It was a great stay!
