We have travelled all over the world and we have visited some amazing islands during our time overseas. We have visited islands off the coast of Asia, Europe, America and Australia but there are a group of islands that have been on our bucket list for sometime. I have wanted to explore them since I first saw them in the Australian television show, Getaway many years ago.
About 8 years ago I traveled to the Morocco and spent two months travelling up and down the coast surfing and enjoying the North African culture and hospitality. I was so nieve and didn’t even realise that there were a set of beautiful islands just off the coast called the Canary Islands and who knew there was so much to do and see there.
Elise and I will be travelling to Morocco in 2014 as we will be attending a wedding in Europe that year. I know that is some time away but we are really excited about ducking over to the Canary Islands and seeing what there is on offer.
After doing a little research we have discovered that these are the type of islands we like, where we can laze on the beach or there are also tons of adventure activities such as diving, snorkelling, kite surfing and even hiking.
The best thing about these islands is that it is perfect weather year round and this is what excites Elise the most is being able to laze on the beach at anytime of the year. Lanzarote Island hosts a volcanic national park which we would love to explore and you can do so by camel and it has an interesting moon-like appearance that is unique to this island.
The activity that most interests me is kite surfing on Fuerteventura Island. This island has the perfect winds off the beach and is the ideal place to learn the ropes. This is a sport I have yet to conquer and I can picture myself doing so here.
Although the Canary Islands seem somewhat a dream for us at the moment we look forward to visiting them when we next visit Morocco. We can’t wait!
