Helping out comes in many shapes and sizes and they don’t all have to be wholeheartedly selfless, today we are going to look at just one of the ways in which you can help to save the World and have an awesome vacation at the same time. If this sounds like something you want to get involved with, then you should be heading to Cambodia’s Koh Rong Archipelago where you can enjoy a luxury Asian vacation and help out at the same time.

The Project

In the Song Saa private island, within the Cambodian archipelago, there is an exciting project that has been underway since 2012, the conservation project seeks to encourage luxury tourism whilst reinvesting funds back into the island. The project spreads money out to surrounding villages, uses the funds to protect natural wildlife and marine life and support the protection of the rainforest.

The Song Saa project is a fantastic non-profit organization that has the support of many local businesses and financiers that seeks to promote community strength and environmental conservation through the tourism which it generates.

The Vacation

You will head to the south coast of Cambodia and onto the beautiful Song Saa island, just a short journey from the coast. Throughout your stay on the idyllic isle you can enjoy some first class hospitality and some fantastic activities such as Scuba diving, a kayak tour through the mangroves, sunrise yoga in breathtaking scenery, picnics on the beach and you can even hire a speedboat to hit the seas.

The resort offers two restaurants which serve up beautiful and local food and produce and if cookery is your thing then there are even classes available so that you can learn how to cook like a local.

There are 4 stunning villas for you to choose from on the island which have all been lovingly designed with luxury in mind. The island resort was founded by a couple called Rory and Melita who loved the island so much that they decided to start this clever plan for luxury-tourism based conservation. Because it was a couple who designed the resort and not a big hotel chain, there is a real human touch about the setup that you cannot help but enjoy.

Why Go?

You will not only love your stay in Cambodia as a result of the beautiful surroundings and the luxury hospitality which you will receive, you will also be helping small villages and communities and aiding in the conservation of the rainforest, marine life and the local environment. Helping out doesn’t always need to be selfless and this creative project shows exactly how you can do some good and have a great time in the process.
