Whilst many of us use the majority of our money and our vacation time on a big summer trip, more and more people are filling out the rest of their year with mini breaks on bank holiday weekends or simply Friday to Sunday jaunts. These weekend breaks are a great way to explore your local region or to even jet off for a quick getaway to somewhere new. Weekend vacations are especially great for relationships and they give many couples the time away that they need to spend some quality time with each other, away from the stresses of home life. If you are looking for an exciting weekend break with your loved one, then here are some ideas for your consideration.
Cottage Break
What better way to enjoy each other’s company than with a relaxing cottage break in a secluded area of the British countryside. There is so much to explore in the United Kingdom countryside and you could rent a small cottage anywhere from the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands or southern Wales. You and your partner can pass weekend walking through the hills, or simply lazing in front of the fire in your private cottage.
Cruise
When many people think of a cruise they will be imagining a month-long trip around the world or a three week trip to the Caribbean. What many don’t know is that you can book a short cruise which will whisk you away for anywhere between one and five nights. You and your partner could use your time off to see Amsterdam or Antwerp or even just head out to sea for a night and enjoy your time on board.
City of Love
For a classy and thoroughly romantic break, why not jet off to Paris for a long weekend in the city of love. There are many romantic things which you and your partner can do in the French capital from love locking, sightseeing, boat trips on the River and strolling hand in hand down the Champs Elysees. Flights from the UK are very reasonably priced or you could even make the trip extra special and go to Paris direct from London via the Eurostar train. Paris is not called the city of love for nothing and it really does make the perfect place for a romantic weekend.
Seaside
Despite the fact that most of the United Kingdom is not blessed with warm weather, the beaches around the British coast make for a beautiful trip. The likes of Cornwall, Pembrokeshire and Northumberland are perfect options for a seaside getaway and whilst you and your partner may not spend your weekend sunbathing, you can still talk walks across the coastal trails and find your own spot where you can enjoy a picnic as you look out to sea. You may need to wrap up but that shouldn’t take anything away from seeing this beautiful side to the UK.
