Top Tips for a Romantic Getaway

Whether you’re just getting to know someone, or you’ve been together for years, a romantic vacation is a great way to reconnect, learn about each other, and add some passion to your relationship away from the stresses of real life. Here are some great tips to help you have the perfect romantic break.

Listen

When we’re busy and we’ve got a lot going on, sometimes we forget to listen to each other. Or, we spend our time speaking about trivial things that don’t really matter. Spend your time away having real conversations. Listening to your partner is a great way to show them you care about them, respect them and value their views.

Touch

Touching is exceptionally important when it comes to romance and passion. Even tiny touches throughout the day help to show how much you love someone. Spend your days holding hands, hugging and kissing. They don’t need to be large public displays of attention. Little pecks can be enough.

Write a Wish List

Sit down with your partner at the start of your trip and make a list of everything you want to do while you are away. Include things you both enjoy, but also things that you are doing for each other. Sometimes doing something you wouldn’t normally choose to do because you know your partner wants to is enough to make that activity especially romantic. You might even end up enjoying it.

The Little Details

The smallest details can make a normal break extra romantic. Arrange for flowers and champagne to be waiting in your room when you arrive. Then, plan a few small surprises for your partner throughout the vacation. These could be small things like running them a bubble bath one night, to bigger gestures such as buying them tickets to a special event.

The Right Accommodation

Getting the accommodation right is a big part of setting the tone for your break. You don’t want to be staying in a cheap hotel full of students, listening to other guests running around all night when you are trying to be romantic. Try to avoid tourist hotspots and big resorts. Instead, look for small retreats. If you can afford it, a villa or private lodge can be extra special. See Holidayparkhol for some great lodges with hot tubs for any budget.

Turn Your Phone Off

This is the number one way to make any break more romantic. When we are at home, we are always checking our phones, looking at emails, texting our friends or scrolling through social media. Our partners rarely get our full attention. If you need to check on the kids or keep in touch with work, have a set time frame every day when it’s allowed. Then, turn your phone off, or leave it in the hotel and give your partner all your attention.

Remember, it doesn’t need to be a huge, expensive trip to be special. You could do these things in a hotel close to home. Simply spending time with each other away from work and family commitments is often all it takes to have a lovely romantic break together.
